Gatherings

Join C&A network members and friends in New York City, for our second annual New York City regional gathering, on Saturday, March 10 from 3-9pm.

We’ll start with a seminar and discussion with fundraising consultant Sarah Chung (see bio below) on “Talking So Donors Will Listen.” Too many times, when talking to potential funders, arts leaders share what interests themselves about their projects, but not what the potential funder really wants to know. How can we reframe the way we present ourselves, with integrity, to build our financial support?

After dinner together to learn about each others’ work and encourage each other, we’ll attend a talk by C&A member, author and theologian Jeremy Begbie (bio below), “A World Made New: The Art of Resurrection and the Resurrection of Art,” at Redeemer Presbyterian Church (7pm).

Both events are free of charge (dinner will be at your own cost). Some housing is available.

Planning to come? Great! Please register for Jeremy Begbie’s talk at the link above, and email luann@churchandart.org to get more info about the afternoon and dinner sessions. If you’d like to join us for some events, but not all, that’s fine too!

C&A’s first regional gathering was held in New York City on March 1, 2011. Our special guest was philosopher Adrienne Chaplin, co-author of Art and Soul: Signposts for Christians in the Arts. Fifteen arts leaders and artists met at the art gallery operated by C&A member Salt Space, and had breakfast together and a lively discussion about the importance of having a philosophy guiding our work.
